Events after events and each one more successful than the previous, has escalated the popularity of SRM Music Club and created a special place in the heart of every SRMite.
With yet another performance on 4th evening as a prelude to Milan ’11 that is just 4 days away now, the 6 bands rocked the crowd with western favorites ranging from death metal Metallica to soft tones of Miley Cyrus’s Climb.
The highlight of the show was as special as the show. The Music Club introduced the Milan theme song for the first time last evening and swear to God, it was out of the world! The piece had both contemporary and a classical touch to it with foot tapping beats that epitomized Milan perfectly. Composed by Rohan and Chandru and vocals by Rohit of Year I and Aishwarya of Year II, earned them kudos from the cheering crowd.
The first performance was by a band called 4 Shadows from SRM Ramapuram who was bent on knowing what’s in the head of the Zombie by singing the popular number by Cranberries.
The next band WYD came with a wide assortment of music. They swayed the crowd to Eagles’ Hotel California… allude it to SRM and you know what to say next… such a lovely place! The specialty of the performance being that the chorus was not sung but played put on the flute. They then played their own composition followed by some ‘happy music’ that really did boost up the happy hormones!
Cranberries seemed the popular favorite among musicians yesterday because the next band Retard Factory, who were obviously not retarded, performed Zombie with Sayanti as the lead singer. They next played their self composed piece, Oriental Chaos, that took the tempo from slow to fast to extremely fast and brought it back to slow. True to their name, they did get chaotic in the end… though how oriental is left for the audience to judge. The drummer impressed the crowd with some sticks juggling that led the crowd cheering.
Next up was a band that didn’t know what their name even meant. Though the Perestroika members did get some knowledge when a group of girls from the audience told them what it meant and where it originated from. Glad that they now knew, they pleased the crowd with Metallica’s Nothing Else Matters and Sweet Child of Mine by Guns and Roses that really let the audience head banging.
Garden of Blooded Bones performed Linkin Park’s In the End and Greenday’s American Idiot, both popular numbers that left the crowd hooting and shouting.
As filler before the next band, SRM Music Club performed a thrilling piece of music with Rohan on the guitar, Chandru on the Violin and Sambit on a… bucket! The trio produced terrific melody and Chandru was simply awesome with the violin.
The next band Refelections, claimed they played what they reflected upon. Declaring this to be their first ever stage performance after formation of their band a month ago they started off with Evanescence’s Bring Me to Life and Wake me up When September Ends by Greenday.
The next performance by Alex band shook the crowd and took them on a highway to hell by the popular number by AC-DC. That kept the crowd roaring in spite of their rumbling stomachs.
The evening ended with two singers from the Music Club Shruti and Manas performing Miley Cyrus’s Climb and Timbaland’s Too Late to Apologize respectively.
All’s well that end’s well. But this is just the beginning and all is already well. With the timer ticking away towards the grand Milan, this event sparked off the Milan spirit and reeled back people into the celebration mood.
As time draws nearer, watch this space for more on the celebration news and what’s happening on the lively campus that is gearing up for the phenomenon that is MILAN!
