IN MEMORY OF PANCHAM DA!

From slow and classic Rimjhim Gire Sawaan to rocking Dam maro dam, they had it all. Be it solo of duet, the singers brought back the era of R D Burman live among the audience by singing some of the greatest hits of R D Burman. Refreshing the old memories of Pancham da, Music Club of SRM University organised a musical evening dedicated to R D Burman’s musical hits on 9th Feb. The MBA Seminar Hall was echoing with the musical hits of R D Barman sung by talented singers of SRM. Hosting the show Mandakini Ayapilla, IIIrd year JMC, gave a brief background of RD Burman and his great contributions to Indian cinema.
Starting off with the ganesh vandana, the show brought in some unforgettable songs of Pancham da tuned in with a musical band. Setting the mood for the event was one of the favourites hits of R D Burman Chala Jaata Hoon sung by one of the singers and later followed by romantic hits of 1942 love story Kuch na Kaho  and Pyaar hua chupke se .Amitabh Bachan starrer Dilbar Mere from the famous movie Satte Pe Satta(1982) and Rajesh Khanna hit Yeh jo mohabbat hai created sensation among the audience. The whole show came lively with audience dancing to the tunes of Piya tu and Dum maro Dum .
Ms Kala, Head of Student Activity Centre hummed to the tunes of Chura Liya Hai surprising the audience and bringing a great round of applause. With some more hits of R D Burman the show ended with the famous Jugalbandi of Pancham da Chatur Naar. Later the floor was opened for the audience to sing their favourite songs and entertain others.
