Double doesn’t always spell trouble. Company is welcome, be it while eating or, in this case, dancing. There was a lot of popping, locking, floor scraping and acrobatics in the duet dance competition held during the second day of the extravagant Milan. The duets were either waltzing across the stage or jiving away, to impress the judges in all manners possible. A myriad of properties were creatively used to enhance their performances. Talent was further exemplified when the duo of Anvesh and Ponnavarsha performed western dance form with a hint of classical in it. Another team of Vinod and Krishna performed the hip hop and street styles with a dash of Tamil folk to it.
11 teams participated in the first round out of which 7 teams qualified for the second round wherein the participants were given two minutes to perform. The twist was that any one of the track was played out of the three options that the participants had given. So, it was triple work for the contestants to choreograph for three tracks.
Apart from all the glitter that was already there, a little more was added when Tamil movie ‘Aadagalam’ actress Tapsi paid a visit to the Main Auditorium. Of course the male crowd was drooling when she stepped on the stage and began singing a popular song from her movie ‘Yathe Yathe’. She set the crowd roaring when she sang a telugu song also. With her bubbly and pleasing manners, she also confessed that she would be flaunting her acting skills in Bollywood as well. It was evident that this cute actress was still untouched from the glitz and glamour of the tinsel town.
The show resumed when the judges Rajini from the ‘Manada Mayalada” fame and Geethan, the best Male Performer in the reality show Jodi No.1, announced the winners of the doubles event. The first prize was bagged by Praveen and Vijaya followed by Karim and Raja in the second position and Nitya and Kavipriya in the third position.
But the best performance came at the end when a very cute performance was given by Prasanjeet, the Milan cultural secretary and Shonali that set everyone breaking into smiles.
Yet another day of a fun filled cultural galore that took the excitement to fever pitch and raised hopes of a lot more of it!
