The melodic scale with high vocal of Carnatic and the beats of Western light music were fantabulous at the Solo Music Event, one of the facets of Milan’11. The melodious singing was never ending and the participants well emulated the voice of the original singers when western and carnatic forms came together.
The event saw 16 participants in Western, 8 carnatic classical and 1 hindustani. The singers could sing any song of their choice within 5 minutes as their deadline however they dint follow. Singing to the tunes of Late Goodbye, Quit playing games and bring me to life and many more the participants gave a tough time to the judges. The show also witnessed a heated debate on the selection of musical forms which was settled by the judge’s comment stating Music is universal without any nationality.
After a brisk competition, Rohit secured the first place in Classical Solo while Ramya bagged the second place. Their mellifluous stances, animated expressions and confidence stood them apart from the rest.
In the western category Rita won the first prize whereas Revitha was the runner up. Undoubtedly the enthusiasm and passion for music was exemplified in the event. The audience also encouraged and cheered the contestants. “The event was well organized with a high level genre. “I am very happy that I won and will come back next year to defend my title”, said excited Rita.
