WINGS TO YOUR IMAGINATION

By Chinmayee Mishra
All of us remember those days when we used to play with mud, soak our hands in colours and cut around papers to make airplanes. Well Milan gave one more chance to bring back those childhood days. To unleash the child in every individual, “Canvas”, an interesting competition held in the second day of Milan brought in a large number of participants who skilfully completed their tasks. Divided into two segments, the event offered five different categories namely Origami, Texture Painting, Sand Sculpting, Clay modelling and Pyrography to choose from.
It was an amazing sight to watch the groups try out their hands at different forms of creativity. While some were trying to figure out their way to make something innovative from the mud provided some were busy painting modern art in the sheet with the help of sponge and water colours.  Two Bengali girls were found making a brilliant sculpture of Krishna out of the mud with all the minute details properly carved.
Another attraction for the onlookers and the two judges from foreign language department was the modern painting by a single boy from Madurai. Using the materials provided, he had created a beautiful painting depicting the cultural heritage of India. On the paper were sponged images of the various dance forms of our country mixed with a blend of colours.
Some were also found trying their hands with texture painting and sand sculpting while others were busy in origami. Judging the contestants on the basis of their creativity, implementation of concept and team work one team from each category was selected for the next round.
The second round was more interesting and involved lot of juggling around the campus. The teams went on a search of waste materials to make a model out of it. From java green to IT Park, students were found running around to collect all the waste on their way! Though it helped a lot in cleaning our campus but the teams had to work to find the appropriate material.
The event involved lots of fun and surely gave the participants an enjoyable experience!
